Ruud Becker, born in 1954 in Amsterdam, studied at the Graphic Art School in Amsterdam and at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, where he is living and working. He is working part-time as a teacher and in his spare time he is an enthusiast artist. His speciality is: paintings in acryl on linnen, gouaches and - especially - linocuts in a printing process of many colours, often more than thirty. Ruud Becker finds his inspiration in the images and landscapes he meets during his travels, which he saves and uses to visualize the story he wants to tell. It is often about a female model in a slightly bizar surrounding, with a light touch of erotica, aiming to hold the attention of the viewer and to invite him or her to think in different way.
